WHAT HAPPENED: In the past 72 hours, statewide cases of COVID-19 in Missouri surpassed 100,000. Now in the seventh month of the pandemic, Missouri veterans, senior citizens and families continue to be in harm’s way in veteran care facilities, nursing homes and schools. At the same time, the state continues to struggle with longstanding health disparities that disproportionately affect minority populations.
ALISSIA CANADY, Democratic candidate for Lt. Governor, said: “It didn’t have to be this way – that is why I am running for Lieutenant Governor. But the challenge we face as a people is rooted far deeper than a failure in leadership to protect Missourians from COVID-19. It is incumbent upon us to ensure quality, affordable healthcare for all that protects against long-standing diseases like diabetes and cancer – and break the cycle of health disparities for the next generation.”
